WFP distributed foods among 1500 families in Landikotal


LANDIKOTAL: Under the "food for work program," the World Food Programme (WFP) distributed foods among 15,00 families in Khyber Agency,officials said.

Iqbal Shinwari,a WFP official,told reporters that they run a community motivation program known as Food for Work in tribal areas. He said during the last one month they have distributed 15,000 families.

He said since 2013 they run the program with collaboration with a local NGO  Hujra Organization January. The foods were distributed in Kam Shalman,Loey Shalman, Pasedkhel, Sheikhmalkhel, Pirokhel, Mirdadkhel and Mukhtarkhel areas in Landikotal.He said food package was consisted of 80 kilograms of  flour, 4 litres ghee and one kiloggram salt. He said that residents were had to repair their village links roads and footpaths. He said residents were trained of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and those who were related with agriculture were given the training to enhance their agriculture production. Iqbal Shinwari said Hujra Organization selected deserving residents  with low income of Rs.8000 per month.
