Billions of Rupees gold seized at Torkham Border


TORKHAM BORDER: Torkham border authorities foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of gold to Afghanistan, official said on Saturday.

Khyber agency political agent, Mutahirzeb, told this scribe on phone that Torkham border authorities have recovered three kilograms and two hundred grams (32, 00 gm) gold from the passengers’ luggage. He said that the gold was being smuggled from Pakistan to Afghanistan which was concealed in a box of cloths.

 Two alleged gold smugglers, identified as Pervez and Farooq, residents of Afghanistan were arrested and sent them along with the seized gold to Landikotal Tehsil for further investigation, the sources said.
