30 suspects arrested in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: The security forces and Khyber agency administration conducted a joint search operation in Gagra bordering area with Afghanistan in Landikotal subdivision and arrested 30 suspected persons, official sources said on Thursday.

Taking action on a tip off, the paramilitary force Frontier Crops (FC), Levies and Khasadar force personnel raided on several places and homes in Gargra village, situated at the Afghan border in Landikotal, and arrested 30 suspected persons including Afghan nationals, the sources said. An official on the condition anonymity told The News on phone that they had received information that several Afghan criminals and outlaws were residing in Gagra village who were hands in the blast and attacks on the security forces in Landikotal. He said that the suspected persons would have involved in anti-Pakistan activities happened in Landikotal. However, he did not disclosed names and nationalities of the arrested persons due to security reasons.
To avoid untoward situation curfew was also imposed for three hours in Landikotal bazaar, Gagra village and other surrounding villages, the official said. Landikotal bazaar, Pak-Afghan highway and Landikotal links roads were also closed during the search operation.   

A tehsildar in Landikotal, Abdul Nabi, said the arrested persons were put in the Frontier Crops lock ups which would be later handed over to the Landikotal after initial investigation.
