KHYBER AGENCY: At least 17 militants, a security f personnel and five volunteers of the local Lashkar were killed when security forces and Amn Lashkar attacked the militants hideouts in Tirah valley in Khyber agency, official sources said on Friday.
The sources said that security forces and volunteers of Ziauddin tribe attacked the suspected militants hideouts from four sides in tirha. As the attacks were launched by against the militants was retaliated with heavy and automatic weapons, sources said. Security forces also used helicopters and jet fighters in the military operation that shelled several militants’ positions.
Seven suspected militants and a soldier, identified as Said Ahmad Shah were killed till news reached while five Ziauddin tribe volunteers were also killed in the clash, the sources said. Those volunteers killed in the attacks with militants were Gul Said, Sher Ahmad, Wali Muhammad, Zar Malik, Sher Khan, Mati Khan, Miraj Khan and Saddam.
Aqil Dar,Yaran Gul, Noor Khaliq and Gulistan were among the injured persons who were shifted to nearest clinics, however, independent sources did not confirmed the casualties. Hundreds of people have remained blocked in Ziauddin area where the clashes were continue, the sources said. The security forces set ablaze the house of Ali Maan shah, the alleged militant in Ziauddin area.
