Unknown gunmen shot dead a senior tribal reporter in Shabqadar area in Charsadda, sources said.
Mukarram Khan Atif was on his way to home in Shabqadar when unknown assilants intercepted near to his home and opened indiscriminate fire on him. He got bullets wounds on his head and chest, the sources said. Mukarram Khan Atif was working for national and International print and electronic media organizations.
He was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar where he succumbed to his injuries.
Mukarram Khan Atif was reporting for VOA Deewa Radio and Dunya TV from Muhamand Agency.
It may be added here that few months ago both Peshawar and tribal based journalists had received seriouse threats that those who are working with International TV, Radio and Print medias would be targeted if they failed to resign from their jobs. The militants had alleged that the said journalists were promoting foreign agenda and help them in achieving their aims and objectives. Total 12 tribal tribal journalists have so far been killed during the last ten years militancy.
