LANDIKOTAL: At least 23 militants were killed and five others injured in Pakistani jet fighters bombardment carried out in different Kukikhel areas of Tirah valley in Khyber Agency,official sources said on Tuesday.
According to Inter Services Public Relation(ISPR) Pakistani jet fighters pounded Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan(TTP) sanctuaries and hideouts in Tor Dara and Duwa Toy hilly areas of Tirah valley. Several santuaries and other compounds allegedly being used by the militants were also destroyed in the bombardment.
ISPR officials said that at least 20 militants including few commanders were also killed in the attack and several others wounded.However, local sources said that twenty three militants of the TTP were killed and more than twenty other injured in the bombardments.
Rejecting the ISPR claims, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Khyber Agency general Secretary Said GhaJan Afridi said that most of the killed persons were innocent. He said that several children and women were among the dead persons who had been killed in the jet bombardment. The PML-N leader asked the government to investigate the incident and announce compensation for the slain persons. Said Ghajan criticized over the criminal silence of MNA Alhaj Shahji Gul he was setting in Islamabad while his voters were passing through a critical time.
