TORKHAM: The Torkham authorities foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of arms and ammunition to Afghanistan and arrested a peddler,officials said on Wednesday.
Naib Tehsildar Torkham Shakeel Barki told The News that they stopped an Afghanistan bound truck(KBL-2191)was stopped at Torkham border. He said during search they recovered 72 Kalishinkoves,266 pistls and thousands of bullets rounds concealed in the hidden cavaties of the truck.An Afghan national Abdul Qayyum,resident of Laghman was arrested and sent him to Landikotal lock up.Barki said they launched investigation to reach to the hands behind the crime.
