PESHAWAR: Officials of the Khyber Agency administration announced that the 14th of August would be celebrated with great zeal at all three Tehsils of Khyber Agency and a marathon race would also be conducted.
Flanked by Fata sports officials and additional political agent of Khyber Agency, political agent Khalid Mehmood on Friday told reporters that the forthcoming 14th August would be celebrated with great pump and show. He said sports and cultural events would be organized while a marathon race from Torkham to Bab-e-Khyber would be conducted.
Khalid said peace had been restored in all parts of Khyber agency as they were going to celebrate Pakistan's independence day with multi-colors. He said that civil and military officials would participate in the events being organized on the day. He said all the public and private offices would be decorated with flash lights.He said sports events including football,cricket and tug of war were among the sports games included in the event. He said the celebration would be continued for one week.
The official said a special gathering would be held in Bara where they would invite all the local elders and youth to share their views about the Independence day.
PA Khyber said those who decorate their office or home best they will award him special cash prize.
