Police recovered narcotics in a raid

Ashrafuddin Pirzada LANDIKOTAL: Police raided a compound in tehsil of Khyber district and recovered heroin and Ice drugs, police said on Tuesday. Station House Officer(SHO) Muslim Khan Afridi told media that taking action on a tip off, they raided a compound in the Sheikhmalkhel area of Landikotal tehsil where they recovered 22 kilogram of heroin and seven kilograms of Ice drugs. He said an Afghan national identified as Muhammad Rahim was arrested on the spot and case registered against him. He was taken to sub-jail Landikotal. A day before, the police officer said they had also foiled heroin smuggling bid in Landikotal and recovered four kilograms of heroin being smuggled to Peshawar from Landikotal.

Arms seized at Pak-Afghan border

Ashrafuddin Pirzada PAKISTAN: Pakistan Customs authorities at Torkham border crossing foiled a bid to smuggle weapons from Afghanistan,officials said on Saturday. Addtional Custom collector Torkham Muhammad Tayyab told media that on the basis of prior tip-off they stopped the empty truck(KBL-3257) as it crossed the Torkham border and entered Pakistan. He said the truck was returning from Afghanistan unloading export goods in Kabul. He said during search they recovered four Russian-made AK-47 guns, two US-made M4 guns,one piece binocular being fixed on sniper gun and thousands of bullets rounds of different guns from the hidden cavities of the truck. The custom official said taking advantage of rush of people the truck driver fled from the scene. However,he said the truck was in their custody. He said they had issued directives for the arrest of the driver at all custom and police personnel deployed at checking points in Pakistan. Muhammad Tayyab said they had kept a close watch on the Torkham border crossing to block weapons and narcotics smuggling from Afghanistan.

Qatar to distribute Ramazan food packages in Tirah

By Ashrafuddin Pirzada PAKISTAN: Qatar Charity officials on Tuesday said that they had planned to distribute Ramazan packages among 2000 poor families in district Khyber and rest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Qatar Charity Khyber Pakhtunkhwa coordinator Sajjad Khan told this correspondent that they had prepared to distrinute 400 Ramazan packages among the deserving people in Tirah valley in the coming week. He said earlier they had completed their community demand projects and conducted training sessions on water related issues.He said they also distributed a good number of food packges in Tirah valley in last winter. He said soon they would visit the Tirah valley for the food distribution.
"This year Qatar Charity Planned to distribution of dry food packs among more than 2000 poor families in Peshawar, Nowshera and Tirah in district Khyber in the month of Ramazan", said Sajjad. He added that they had ration packages for locals and Afghan refugees which would also be distributed in Landikotal in the coming days. The Qatar Charity said they distributed 341 food packages among 140 families in Taru Jabba, Pabbi while 201 packages handed over to poor families in Budhni areas of Peshawer. He said Qatar Charity, an international charity organization was committed to continue its assistance to deserving families, widows, orphans and the disabled round the year. Residents thanked the Qatar Charity for its humanitarian services in the farflung areas of district Khyber.
Sajjad said the ration packages were the gift from Qatar's donors for deserving people. He said Qatar Charity would continue cooperation with the people in need. Assistant commissioner Maliha Sehar accompanied the Qatar charity officials and appreciated Qatar Charity for its food assistance and thanked on behalf of the government. ——————————————

Billions of rupees smuggled goods seized at Torkham border

Ashrafuddin Pirzada TORKHAM: Authorities foiled a bid to smuggle billion of rupees Indian and foreign made goods and arrested one person at Torkham border custom officials said on Thursday. Pakistan Customs official at Tokham boder Sadiq Akbar tol The News that they stopped a long trailer truck(KBL-2821) at Torkham border as it entered from Afghanistan. He said the truck was loaded with onions bags imported from Afghanistan. The official said during the checking they recovered billion of rupees goods made by India and other countries. He said the smuggled items were concealed under the onion bags. The item recovered were 10,000 meters suiting cloth, Gents fabric,550 meters, polyesters for jersy cloth,4500 meters, heavy duty dry batteries,280, Tri-cirgyl Iron PadLock,33840, two heavy vehicles gear boxes,378kg cigarettes Filter Paper rolls,450 Indian made PaanRaas (Authentic flavoured Molasses),400 LCD panels, digital Thermometer, 1650, cefradine Compacted Pharmaceuticals, 20 Bags, differential gear oil, 600 bottles, nivea cream,240 tins, fire cracker and flying balls, 26400 pieces and Indian made livon serum vitamin-E for hair, 3696 packets. Customs officials said the seized items worth is billion of rupees in open market. Diver Gham Jan Awiz and the truck were took into custoday and started investigation.

Pak-Afghan discussed trade issues on both sides

By Ashrafuddin Pirzada LANDIKOTAL: A meeting of Pak-Afghan customs officials held at Torkham border to bring an ease in bilateral trade and commerace activities between Pakistan and Afghanistan via Torkham border. The meeting was continued for few hours discussed various trade related issues on both side of the border that had created constraints in bilateral business activities. Pakistan's customs deputy collector Amanat Khan led the Pakistani side while Afghan customs head Khial Zaman Amarkhel and Abdul Hamid Dost led the Afghan side. Talking to The News deputy collector Torkham customs Amanat Khan said that the agenda of the meeting was to find solutions to bring an ease and expadite the import and export documents process on the both sides offices. He said they also discussed about the around six hundreds empty trucks stranded on the Afghan side of the border. Amanat said clearance of goods documents was the core issue with Afghanistan. The meeting agreed to facilitate the traders and transporters to further increase import and export from and to Afghanistan. Meanwhile, On the directives of NCOC, Pakistani border authorities allowed Afghan students to enter Pakistan via Torkham border. Addtional assistant commissioner Ashrafuddin visited Torkham border and monitor the Afghan students enteries into Pakistan. Ashrafuddin said those Afghan student enroled in Pakistani educational institutions would go through official formalities and would follow Corona SOP. He said all Afghan student must be quarantined at Corona centres for 14 days at least before they proceed to their studies in Pakistan. Road reopened: The Peshawar-Torkham highway which blocked at Takia area of Landikotal for the last one day reopened after successful talks held between Sultankhel tribal elders and police officials.

Polio worker shot injured in Landikotal,TTP claimed Jamrud police attack

Ashrafuddin Pirzada LANDIKOTAL: Unidentified gunmen shot and injured a social worker and polio suprvisor late Thursday night in Ashkhel village of Landikotal tehsil in district Khyber, police sources said on Friday. The sources said that Banaris Khan Shinwari, who is polio supervisor and chairman of Landikotal Falahi Tanzeem, was at his hujra(guest house for males) with guests when few gunmen opened indiscriminate firing from outside the compound aiming the main gate. According to family sources the incident took place around 8pm when Banaris Khan,his son and another person were present at the Hujra lawn. They said gunmen all of sudden open brust firing at main gate and fled the scene. As a results, Banaris Khan wounded while luckily the other persons with him were safe in the incident. As the incident happened police reached to the site and cordoned off the area. They collected the evidences. Banaris Khan was rushed to district headqmquarters hospital in Landikotal wherefrom he was shifted to Hayatabat Medical Complex. No group or induvidual yet claimed responsibility of the attack. Landikotal police station police officer Ayaz Shinwari told The News that after due legal process Landikotal Police would register FIR and proceed the case. However,no arrest yet made in the firing case,he added. Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan(TTP) through their social media accounts claimed the responsibility of the Jamrud attack on Thursday in which a police constable Kalimullah and his driver were killed.
The funeral prayer of the martyred police was offered at Police lines in Jamrud which was attended by Capital City Police Officer Ahsan Abbas,deputy commissioner Khyber Arshad Mansoor,sector commander Shaokat Rana,commandant Khyber Rifles,local elders and others.The martyred Kalimullah Afridi was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Tedibazaar in Jamrud.
Talking to this scribe, DPO Khyber Wasim Riaz confirmed the Jamrud incident as terrorism bid and said that the martyred police blood would not go waste. He met with the martyred police officer's family members and condoled the lose of their dear one. CCPO Ahsan Abbas,DC Khyber Arshad Mansoor and other molitary officers also met with the bereaved family members and condoled the tragic death of their family member. CCPO Ahsan Abbas on the occasion said that they were with the martyreds families and would support them. He said they feel proud on the martyreds police who gave life sacrifices for Pakistan.
